Pick your starting region from 9 available options and learn how to take advantage of current political, religious, and social issues happening in different regions around you. Expand your power in the unexplored territories before other regions take them. Plan ahead of time before conquering the territory by creating new alliances and trade agreements. It is always good to open as many routes for trades as possible in order to sell your resources. 

Be mindful about deploying your army when you plan to start a war. It will be easier for you to seize the territory and build your empire if you manage to have reliable allies. 

Don’t be surprised as there will be times when the odds are against you. Withdraw when you think it is the time for a better opportunity in the future. Never join a war unprepared as it may backfire. Plan in advance to prepare more troops and better strategy to increase your chance of winning. The revamped game mechanics like automatic unit replenishment really helps to prevent you from micromanaging your troops anymore.
