Triennale Game Collection

Game overview

The Triennale Game Collection is a virtual exhibition featuring unique, self-contained games from renowned independent game designers. Available weekly for five weeks.

The Triennale Game Collection serves as a virtual exhibition that showcases the experimental approach to interactivity of five world-renowned independent game designers. This collection was created for the 21st International Exhibition of Triennale Milano, with each designer presenting their own unique game. These games present self-contained takes on interactive narrative, puzzles, and exploration. The Italian game designer, Pietro Righi Riva, curated the Collection, while the virtual space it occupies was produced by Santa Ragione, an Italian game studio. The Collection will feature five games, with one new game releasing each week for a span of five weeks. Week 1, Il Filo Conduttore by Mario von Rickenbach & Christian Etter from Switzerland, presents a touching tale of a cord that dangles from the top and overlooks delicately arranged objects. The game showcases a small story that the player can explore. Week 2, L.O.C.K., created by Auriea Harvey & Michaël Samyn (Tale of Tales, Belgium), allows the player to explore a universe based on cosmologies that place humans at the center. The game switches between a diagram and a machine, providing a unique experience with a touch of mystery. Week 3, Neighbor, designed by Jake Elliott, Tamas Kemenczy & Ben Babbitt (Cardboard Computer, USA), is the story of wordless friendship developing over time, set in an underground domicile and a patch of desert. The game is a thought-provoking experience of emotions and bonds. Week 4, A Glass Room by Pol Clarissou from France, presents photographs and animated sequences from his own life, resulting in an experience that the player can manipulate. The narrative evolves as the player uses the device to display the photographs on virtual walls. Week 5, The Worm Room by Everest Pipkin of the USA, takes the player on a first-person exploration of endless glass greenhouses, providing an experience similar to visiting a botanical garden. The game showcases beauty through its rendering and engages the player in a journey of learning. In conclusion, The Triennale Game Collection features five distinct games from five world-class game designers, each presenting their take on interactive narrative, puzzles, and exploration. The games offer an immersive experience that the player can enjoy, allowing them to explore and learn through unique experiences.
