Based on the infamous Word Ladder puzzle created by Lewis Carroll, Word Staircase lets you build a staircase of ever-longer words.
Take an existing word, rearrange the letters and add an extra letter to spell a new word. Create a staircase going from a three letter word upwards. Clues will help you identify the new word.
To go from "ace" to "depreciations" you might do the following:
ACE
RACE
SCARE
NACRES
CARNIES
INCREASE
ARDENCIES
DEACONRIES
DESECRATION
DEPRECATIONS
DEPRECIATIONS
New puzzles every day.
Compare times against players around the globe.
All words are guaranteed to exist on Dictionary.com.
No confusion between UK and US spellings. Clues and answers will not contain any words such as colour/color for which spelling varies from country to country.
