The purpose is merging cubes and reaching 2048, but the way doing this is pretty different than others.
You are expected to aim and release the cube to merge with same cube on the board. If you build a great strategy, you can reach your aim otherwise you can fail. Try now and see whether you are able to get 2048 or not.
