Each time you move the squares in the same direction, you have a 90% chance of receiving one new square with double the value, or a 10% chance of receiving one with four times the value. By combining two squares with the same value, you receive a new one equal to their sum. The points earned from previously combined squares are added to your total. The possible square values are 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, and 2048. The goal of the game is to earn as many points as possible and to reach 2048 points, but the game continues after reaching this goal.
