Human existence has been marked, in all ages, by major disasters: terrible volcanic eruptions, great cities have been destroyed by fires or wiped out by seismic events, huge landslides have changed the profile of mountains or the course of rivers, and so on.
In recent years, these forces, as well as torrential rains, winds and floods, seem to be targeting humans more than ever, thanks in part to the globalization of communication.
In addition to natural disasters, humans also contribute to their own harm: harmful gas emissions, the exploitation of natural resources without criteria, lack of respect for the environment, use of harmful technologies. These types of disasters are known as anthropic.
The risk of natural or anthropic disasters is present and humans cannot eliminate it. What they can do is prevent it from happening in a devastating way and mitigate the resulting effects.
It becomes a matter of culture and education and children and adolescents are those who, by growing up with this awareness, can improve the situation.
