In this latest spin of the classic Kakuro puzzles, you get to put your abilities up against the clock and avoid the trap of repetitive calculations while you advance to more complex puzzles. Similar to the famous Sudoku, Kakuro demands you to finish a number grid with a set of simple rules. To begin with, every cell needs to be filled with a number ranging from 1 to 9. After that, the total of the digits entered in each run has to equal the total indicated by the number displayed in the dark cells at the end of the run. Lastly, you are not allowed to repeat a number in the same run. But don’t be fooled by the rules as the answer might prove a bit clandestine. With Kakuro, there are a few tips and tricks to get you going. Firstly, avoid taking a brute force approach to the game as there is only one possible solution for each puzzle, so it might take you a while. Secondly, try to deduce what combination of numbers could possibly fit in the correct cells according to logic. For instance, if there are two cells in a column and the sum of the two numbers is 3, the possible numbers that can fill the cells are 1 and 2. However, it is not certain what number should be in each cell. Just like in a crossword puzzle, try to look for intersecting rows for help. Suppose a row with two cells and the sum of their numbers is 4 is crossing with the column. In that case, the only numbers that you can use are 1 and 3, hence the intersecting cell must be 1. Finally, rule out impossible numbers in combinations that have fewer possible choices that eliminate the guesswork of each puzzle. Over time, you can familiarize yourself with the likely combinations and navigate the simpler puzzles in a jiffy. But don't relax too soon, larger puzzles with more sophisticated challenges will be open to you. Kakuro Rally provides various features such as Rally/Classic Play modes, where you can test yourself against the clock, pick the puzzle size and level of difficulty using puzzle categorisations, and puzzle picker. Additionally, the game also includes an 'Auto-complete' feature that fills in a cell when only one answer is left, an Auto-Notes mode, which fills all the possible numbers for each cell and keeps the choices up-to-date with each change. Lastly, the 'Show Starting Hint' feature will give you a solution for one row or column to get you going.
