To play German Whist, divide the game into two sections: the Foreplay and the Endgame. In the former, the contenders play cards to win or lose cards uncovered from the main deck. In the latter, they play with hand selected from Foreplay. Beats are two types: beats of the same suit but with a higher value card or from any trump card. Once a card is played, other players have to follow suit. In case they don't have a relevant card, they may choose to Throw Away by playing any non-trump card, or Trump. Every single trick a player wins is a point scored. If playing in ‘Last 13’ scoring mode, score one point for every trick won above six, or if in ‘Every Trick’ scoring mode, score one point for every trick beyond 13.
