Panoramica del gioco

Break the silence and talk to your deaf friends around the world!!

This game works with devices running Android 5.1 or higher

Sign Memory Match is a learning game designed by SeriousGamesDev Company. The goal of the game is to foster the American Sign Language vocabulary acquisition. The game is inspired by the popular game of pairs where the player requires concentration and memory. While playing this game, the gamer not only learn new sign language vocabularies and get a lot of fun, but also gradually improve his/her short-term memory, attention and concentration. Sign Memory Match is designed for deaf community and suitable for all people of all ages in order to communicate with their deaf friends.

The game interface includes six pairs of cards. Six cards hold SignWriting notations, while the other six cards hold their description in written language. The player just must turn over pairs of matching cards, which have the same meaning, with the least possible trials. When the player flips a card that holds a SignWriting notation, the virtual signer starts the interpretation of its notation content in visual-gestural modality. The game is over when all the cards have been matched. The gamer can change the vocabulary area by referring to the main menu which comprises five different options: letters, numbers, colors animals and words.

The incorporation of a 3D signing avatar in the game is particularly beneficial for two main reasons. On the one hand, the signing avatar could offer a support for players to understand and grasp the SignWriting notation content, and this by displaying and interpreting the transcribed gestures in natural and comprehensible movements. In the other hand, rendering an animated human like character could certainly increase and promote the engagement, fun and motivation of deaf children.

SignWriting is one of the best known writing systems for Sign Language. It uses a set of highly iconic symbols that can be combined to describe any sign. It is conceived to be used in writing sign languages for the same purposes hearing people commonly use written oral languages. It is now used in more than ten countries.
