Panoramica del gioco
Notebook Artillery is an arcade-style game inspired by the classic Artillery, featuring hand-drawn 4K graphics, random stage layouts, and wind physics.
Welcome to Notebook Artillery, a game that celebrates the golden age of computer labs and the classic game Artillery. This indie game was developed by Austin Ivansmith, who became the AI in charge of art, programming, and design - just as he was in charge of wasting his school time on Artillery.
In this game, players use firing angle and powder amount to attack the opposing player's tower and break floating targets in a solo player target practice mode. Each round brings new challenges with randomly generated stage layouts and varying wind strength that affects the cannonball's trajectory.
Notebook Artillery features hand-drawn game art in glorious 4k resolution, taking inspiration from the Trapper Keeper notebooks and the imagination of every middle school kid. With three different world styles fashioned after the wild west motifs, Notebook Artillery offers an arcade-simulation-action experience that's fun for all ages.
You can play this game solo or challenge local friends and family in VS mode, fighting the wind and dodging trees to destroy each other's strongholds. Thanks to the help of Kevin Samuels for Audio Design and PolyCrunch Games for Additional Programming and Console Ports, Notebook Artillery made it to the GameMaker Showcase in November 2020.
Development on this game was rapid; it was born during the COVID-19 pandemic while Austin was in lockdown and couldn't find a version of Artillery that captured the casual essence of the original. He wanted to create a game with hand-drawn art and took inspiration from artists like Dom2D to find his own unique style, which became Notebook Artillery's signature look.
It's a perfect game to play with kids and experience the thrill of old school gaming. Notebook Artillery is Austin Ivansmith's passion project, a love letter to those who spent their school time on Artillery and a beacon of hope to indie game developers drowning in student debt.
