The Prince of Griffinvale defied his father's wishes by marrying a poor girl. In response, the king sends his son on a crusade and expels his wife from the castle, hoping that the prince would forget about her. However, the prince dies in battle, and his wife delivers their child before passing. The King's grand plan falls apart, leaving the royal line's future in ambiguity. The royal court was then overrun with conspiracies and ambitious people who sought to seize power. A group of loyalists seeking to protect the fallen prince's lineage hid his descendant amidst the chaos.
