This game is my honours project at the Queensland University of Technology in 2019.
Hatchigotchi will not be given to the players instantly. Instead, it requires the players to find a particular code to enter it. The code will be hidden in the QUT exhibition building (QUT KG Z9 building). After the exhibition, the code will be up on my portfolio website (kevinhan-portfolio.com).
Once the code is entered and correct, the Hatchigotchi egg will appear. The egg will hatch in a certain amount of time. But don't worry, the timer will still go on while you are doing something else with your phone.
When the egg hatches out, the Hatchigotchi virtual pet will appear. It has needs and emotions, however it will not indicate directly. The players need to pay attention to the Hatchigotchi's animations and try to understand how it feels now, and also how to treat the Hatchigotchi through interactions.
The project aims to apply 'empathic interaction' that making emotional feelings in the interactions. The point is inducing the players to put their efforts into earning the Hatchigotchi and seizing their attention. And therefore, it believed it will maximise the bonding between the player and the virtual pet.
