Closest Number

OBJECTIVE

The aim of Closest Number is to use your mathematical prowess to shoot down enemies. To do so, you must press the space station with the closest number to the enemy. Can you calculate quickly and accurately?



SPACE STATIONS

The game screen comprises of three space stations positioned towards the bottom. Each space station has a number on it. The essential gameplay mechanic is that you must press the space station closest in value to the number of the incoming enemy. For instance, if the enemy has a value of 3, and your space stations show 2, 5, and 8, you need to hit the left station with the value 2. Alternately, if your space stations display numbers 3, 8, and 13, and the enemy has a value of 6, you need to select the middle space station valued at 8. Remember that 6 is closer to 8 than it is to 3 or 13.



GAME OVER

The game will end under two conditions. Firstly, if you click on the wrong space station, that is, the space station that does not have the closest number. Secondly, any enemy hitting your middle space station will result in an instant game over. Some enemies may come faster than others, so stay alert and act fast.



LEVELS

There are 30 levels, each featuring different enemy speeds. Successful completion of each level will take you to the next one. As you progress through levels, both your space station numbers and enemy numbers will grow larger, making calculation increasingly difficult. The final level is level 21. Defeating the game at level 21 will unlock Hard Mode.



HARD MODE

Once you have beaten the game on normal, you will be able access Hard Mode. Hard Mode uses five space stations instead of three, making gameplay more complex. Additionally, the game will continue infinitely, and there will be no final level to beat.



SCORING

Your score increases by the value of the level for each enemy you destroy. After the game-over screen, your highest achieved score gets saved locally on your operating device. In comparison, The highest score achieved in Hard Mode will record separately.



ENEMIES

There are three types of enemies in Closest Number. The green oval shape denotes a slow-moving enemy. The orange rectangle signifies a medium-paced enemy, and the red hexagon indicates a fast-moving one. Each of these enemies will possess a different number value that you must shoot down using your space stations with the closest number.
