Chaser Games are a fun way to introduce students to coding by creating and playing games.
Chaser Games usually have 3 screens: a welcomeScreen, a gameScreen, and a gameOverScreen. Each screen has buttons that are coded to move through the app. When you click the image on the gameScreen, it moves to a random location. Some students also change the size of the image and keep score.
My students made their games by completing 2 lessons at code.org as part of the Computer Science Principles course. Want to make your own Chaser Game? Click CODE and follow the steps.
Since the first computer program written by Mrs. Ada Lovelace, technology has advanced to include robots that are learning to make better choices faster than humans because of the artificial intelligence of machine learning. If robots can learn, so can you.
You can make one, try my weasel game or see the Game List of all of my students’ Chaser Games. Send me an email to share your own Chaser Game (click CODE) and I’ll add it to this app: chrisbates.cs@gmail.com.
