Game overview
Project L, an upcoming fighting game from Riot Games, is set in the world of Runeterra. It is built around tag-team combat, sharp visuals and role-based champion play. The game is designed to be easy to pick up, yet deep enough for serious competitive play.
Matches are built around two-champion teams. You control a Point champion, who handles most of the action, as well as an Assist champion, who provides support in the form of special moves and setup tools. You can swap roles during the fight, which keeps the pace unpredictable and opens up combo and pressure options.
The tag systems play a significant role in the strategy. Assist Actions give each champion a unique support ability that can be called in during a match. Handshake Tag allows you to switch control between the two active fighters, giving you greater freedom to extend combos and reposition. Dynamic Save works as a defensive breaker, calling in your partner to interrupt enemy pressure and stop long combos.
The game is still in active development, with Riot testing and refining systems to ensure that fights remain fast-paced, easy to understand and driven by skill. There is no final release date yet, but early sign-ups are open for players who want to take part as soon as the testing phases begin.
If you enjoy tag fighters and character-driven combat, Project L is shaping up to be a serious contender.
