Enter Mephisto

The app “Enter Mephisto” is an event-application that enables registration for and participation in ‘Being Faust – Enter Mephisto’, which is a ‘Big Game’: a physical game enhanced with online and social media elements, based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s Faust. The game was designed by the Goethe-Institut Korea in cooperation with the Korean game developer NOLGONG.





FAUST AS BIG GAME



The format of the game is extraordinary: players meet at a predetermined location and time. Every single one of them slips into the role of the young FAUST. Armed with an iPhone or iPad and the desire to tempt fate you encounter the tantalizing digital world of MEPHISTO, where values and ideals become commodities to be traded or sold. Simply ‘Log in’ by way of this app to seal the Faustian pact with the devil. Once your soul is sold, the game is on: How far are you willing to go? Can success and beauty really be bought? Is there a way back to the world of true love and meaningful friendship?
