Yep, I know that many artists sing and play, plenty are multi-instrumentalists (hence vocals is not an option). For instance, Paul McCartney sings and plays everything BUT if his name appears with a link to The Beatles, his principal instrument is Bass. Some names will appear more than once; just choose the instrument associated with the link. For instance, Dave Grohl, Drums in Nirvana but Guitar in Foo Fighters, Steve Marriott, Guitar in the Small Faces and Humble Pie and so on.
