Due to the depletion of the ozone layer, widespread illnesses emerged. People can no longer stay outdoors as they get directly exposed to harmful solar radiation.

To counter the ill effects of the solar radiation, scientists developed a vaccine that reconstructed the DNA structure in such a way that it enabled people to endure direct ultraviolet radiation without any health issues. The vaccine was then widely mass-produced and administered. But, something went awry...

The DNA restructuring had irreversible consequences on human behavior. Vaccinated individuals started exhibiting aggression and attacking other people.

A riot broke out, and the already damaged human civilization was utterly devastated. Only small groups of people who were not vaccinated survived for various reasons.
