The story revolves around a privileged government-sponsored academy called Hope's Peak, where the crème de la crème of high school students are enrolled to receive elite education in diverse fields. The main character, Makoto Naegi, who's just an average student, gets accepted into this prestigious academy. The story takes a turn when he gets chosen by lottery from among the ordinary students as the "Ultimate Lucky Student," and gets trapped in the academy for no apparent reason. Makoto wakes up in what seems to be the interior of the academy, and realizes that the dingy corridors, prison-like atmosphere, and the iron-barred windows are far from his initial expectations of Hope's Peak Academy. He discovers that he and 14 other Ultimate Students from all over the world have been cut off from the outside world, and were told by a stuffed bear claiming to be the headmaster that they'll be confined within the school until their last day unless they commit murder! As Makoto and his fellow students try to uncover who the mastermind behind this is, their hope and trust begin to be crushed by different incidents, including the sadistic headmaster and the mystery surrounding the mastermind. The game is filled with suspense, surprise, and action. Players must use testimonies and evidence they've gathered during their investigations to prove the truth behind each incident. The 2.5D motion graphics add an additional layer of depth to the spectacular environment, which is crafted with 2D illustrations of characters and objects in a 3D setting, providing the game with a visual appeal. The game also features completely optimized smartphone controls, where 3D map movement controls and UI have been redesigned, and the map jumping function has been improved to ensure smoother gameplay. The game comes with additional features, including the Intimacy Gallery, where players can replay their favorite characters and events as many times as they want. The Character Gallery lets players view character sprites and lines on a gallery, and the Ultimate Gallery is full of promotional illustrations and character sheets from the official art book. The game is supported on Android 7.0 and above, while the text and audio are available in English, Japanese, and Traditional Chinese.
