Subvert

A branching, interactive story that puts you in the role of Sam, an Ibrida. Directed by the totalitarian state to work as an A.I. engineer and serve the Ibrida homeworld, Utopia, and their Creators, The Naoum; Sam questions the scriptures preached daily by the Hierarchs. Using the born skills granted to A.I. engineers, Sam subverts creating SID, a Heretical A.I., to search for cracks in their scripture. Finally uncovering a signal from Christina, a young woman in post-societal America, Sam's political dissidence expands beyond Utopia. Evading the Hierarchs and aiding Christina on her search to find her mother in an apocalyptic wilderness, Sam discovers the true depth of Chaos.



Learning morality is not always black and white; perception is only half of reality. Subvert explores what happens when individuals must make decisions outside of what their society permits. As Sam guides Christina through interactions with other scared individuals, groups, and the natural world, their commitment to obedience weakens, only to be replaced by a commitment to direct action. While their relationship begins with the search for Christina's mother, their journey matures into a larger search for truth, not only exploring what it is but how it emerges from one's decisions.
