Explore dangerous 3D dungeons to uncover the secrets of the Baldia Kingdom in Shadow of Guardian, an RPG featuring wireframe graphics.
Shadow of Guardian is a thrilling RPG that takes you on a journey through wire-frame 3D dungeons. Your mission is to unravel the mystery of the Baldia Kingdom. For 300 years, this kingdom has maintained order while being shrouded in mystery about its founder. Clues have been found in the form of underground ruins, and investigators from both home and abroad have been called to explore this dangerous place inhabited by strange creatures. Among them, you will be the one to unveil the secrets of Baldia Kingdom.
You can move the selection cursor or move through the maze using the arrow buttons and use the A button to confirm or climb ladders to the next floor. The B button cancels or opens the menu. In the 3D dungeon screen, you can also touch different parts of the wireframe screen, such as the center to move forward, open doors, touch the left or right edges to turn around, touch the four corners to open the menu, or touch the top or bottom to move up or down if there's a ladder.
There are two types of status conditions, namely, "poison," which reduces HP regularly, and "sealing" that disables magic use. For low or very low difficulty levels, natural recovery occurs alongside the game's progress. For all other difficulty levels, you need an item for recovery.
In case you have set up auto-mapping in settings, you can select the map option on the menu screen to view the map. The map display can be flexibly switched between large, small, and no display.
As you explore the maze, you can also get lost and disoriented but can recover using the "orientation" option. However, your LV will decrease, and the rate of decrease depends on the difficulty level.
The game features an auto-save function that saves progress at the end of your menu exit or end of battle.
The game has gone through several updates to fix bugs such as extreme delay in recovery from poison status and better item sorting functions. It is built using HSP3dish and mod_dstr by Onitama-sama and Shimakuroneko-sama, respectively, among other development environment and module tools.
