Spielüberblick

Play cards into a 5x5 grid and earn points based on poker hands in this strategy game. Play against an AI opponent.

In this game, players draw a card each turn and put it in an empty cell within their 5-by-5 grid. Once the card is placed, it cannot be moved. An artificial intelligence will also be playing at the same time. After 25 cards have been dealt and both player grids are full, they will be scored using the American point system. Additionally, the AI's grid will be revealed for comparison purposes. This unique and engaging game is brought to you by the Gettysburg College ACM chapter project and individuals such as Professor Todd Neller (AI player) and John Duncan (other areas of development).

The American point system is used to score each row and column of cards within the 5-by-5 grid, with the 5-card hand being the basis of scoring. The Royal Flush scores the highest at 100, followed by the Straight Flush at 75. Four of a Kind earns 50 points, while Full House will give 25 points. If you have a Flush, you will receive 20 points, and a Straight awards 15 points. Three of a Kind gets 10 points, Two Pair gives 5 points, One Pair scores 2 points, while a High Card earns no points.

Dr. Todd Neller's Naive Abstract Reinforcement Learning player is also utilized in this game. This means that it features a player that is capable of learning through its experiences in the game, which only adds to the excitement and challenge of Poker Squares.
