Underwater wordplay game featuring animal descriptions taken from the ocean-inspired Plouf and Floup book, plus flora and fauna items you can add like 6 POISSONS and CORAIL ROUGE.
To start playing Plouf & Floup, you can either purchase the book or access the word list by visiting http://ludocube.fr/floup. Once you are ready to begin, simply type the name of an animal such as "orca" or "clownfish" and press the blue arrow to watch it appear. You may also add seaweed by typing "kelp," red coral by typing "coral," or even striped jellyfish by typing "jellyfish."
By clicking on any animal, you can learn all about its unique characteristics. If you flip your tablet over, you may find yourself transported to Floup's wacky world. To create multiple creatures at once, simply add a number before the animal name (e.g. "6 fish"). Additionally, you can use common words like "fish," "shark," "coral," "seaweed," and "turtle."
Plouf & Floup is an interactive book and application developed in collaboration with a CE2 and a CM2 class at Barthélémy Profit School in La Rochelle. The city's P[art]cours initiative allowed the children and their teachers, Anaïs Grignon and Manon Clauzel, to host artists Anouck Boisrobert and Louis Rigaud during a six-week residency in March and April of 2016. Throughout the residency, the children visited the La Rochelle aquarium, drew fish and turtles, cut out pieces of tracing paper, invented wacky underwater monsters, wrote silly texts, created exquisite corpse art, and came up with fantastical names to ultimately build a comprehensive ocean compendium called Plouf as well as its imaginative counterpart, Floup.
This project was inspired by tip tap, Anouck Boisrobert and Louis Rigaud's interactive dictionary (published by Helium in 2011). Get ready to dive into a surreal world of aquatic imagination as you play Plouf & Floup today!
