The space exploration and the newly developed supersonic technologies led to new colonies forming, but turned the space into a junkyard in a short period of time.

These new colonies living on different planets started competing for all the junk and scrap in space, creating a new profession called "intergalactic junkman".

But the newly formed colonies, deciding to start a federation, left our planet out of the federation.
