Math Minis – Addition and Subtraction is the perfect app to make math fun for preschoolers. Instead of a dull math workbook, this app has cute animations that bring fruits to life when the correct answer is selected. With 8 levels of adding and subtracting skill sets, each level has unique backgrounds, trees and fruits that transform into little characters.

This app is ideal for preparing preschoolers for their first year of elementary school. The built-in instructional voice-over guides the user in selecting any desired level to play. The first four levels come in a free package, and parental security features are in place to prevent children from accessing external app features for in-app purchases.

The app levels are divided into two categories, addition and subtraction, each containing four difficulty levels.

In the addition category, level 1 includes counting review, number sequence and number patterns. In level 2, one can learn to add single digit numbers, add three single digit numbers and add 10s. Level 3 covers advanced addition, including adding double-digit numbers to a single digit, adding two double-digit numbers and filling in the missing number. Level 6 is a review level, and has mixed questions of addition and subtraction with single and 3 single-digit numbers as well as those on adding and subtracting 10s. In level 7, combining addition and subtraction would include adding and subtracting single-digit numbers, 1 and 2-digit numbers, and filling in the missing number. The final level, Level 8, is the ultimate challenge, with exercises on adding double-digits to double-digits, subtracting double-digits from triple digits, and filling in the missing number.
