The protagonist of the narrative, Aichi Sendou, an undistinguished junior high school boy, relied on only one thing in his drab and unremarkable life: "Blaster Blade", a TCG game card that he got as a child. After he began playing with the card, his life took a sharp turn. Fascinated by Vanguard, he made friends such as Misaki Tokura and Kamui Katsuragi in battles, as well as many other rivals.
