Martial Law is an immersive game that highlights the struggles faced by Polish families during the Communist era. This game brings to life the complex beliefs and ideologies of an entire generation. The storyline of this game is seen through the perspective of a man who is disregarded as an outcast because of his low social status. However, despite facing difficulties, the man makes a relentless effort to look after his daughter with utmost care and dedication. One of the game's most captivating themes is its educational aspect. It offers players a chance to pause their journey, explore, and assimilate knowledge of the Polish Communist era, and gain an understanding of its deep-rooted culture. Martial Law boasts an array of amazing features such as the many possible endings, a unique visual novel experience, and an intriguing exploration of family issues. Players also face the possibility of being physically abused by a fellow comrade during a debate, creating a stirring and harrowing experience. The game also features the opportunity to interact with a grumpy and cantankerous old man, whilst also trying to find ways to make your child happy, adding a sense of realism and relatability to the game. By making wise choices throughout the game, players secure their fate, a future of their own direction. Martial Law was initially developed during GameJam Polskigamedev.PL 2021, and it's a fantastic game that has captured the essence of Communism in Poland and its impact on the lives of ordinary citizens.
