Game overview
In "The Sea Eternal," choose immortality or love, fight against rogue mermaid, & pick a side in an eternal war under the sea.
Enter the mystical underwater metropolis of Glass City, where achieving endless life comes at a cost. Would you be willing to forfeit love, recollections, or independence for immortality? Are you willing to strip others of their freedom to attain your desire? Become submerged in a world of mermen, mermaids, and other inhabitants of the deep sea, where each individual harbors secrets and nothing is certain.
Lynnea Glasser, the mastermind behind "Creatures Such as We" and "Coloratura," has created an incredible interactive fantasy novel, "The Sea Eternal," that won the 2013 Interactive Fiction Competition and multiple XYZZY awards. You direct the plot by choosing from a range of options. The game is purely text-based, having 283,000 words, and no sound effects or visuals, giving and pushing limitless boundaries to your creativity and imagination.
The whales have granted the underwater inhabitants absolute immortality, requiring so little in exchange. Protection from monstrous squids, and concealment from humanity. However, when a delinquent mermaid ventures to eradicate the gift of perpetual existence, secrets undetected for ages emerge from the abyss. A delicate balance of power dwells within your hands.
Do you defend your immortality to the death, or surrender it in the name of a greater cause? Do you take a stand in the everlasting war between the whales and the monstrous squid? Does your unwavering love save Glass City or obliterate it?
