The year is 2245. Humanity has grown beyond the cradle of Earth and colonized nearly every planet and moon within the solar system. A vast warp gate network allows for near-instantaneous travel across the immense distances between the planets, but not without a cost. Countless frontiersmen have ventured out on long and dangerous expeditions to build the network, many to never return, and those that did have become the stuff of legend. Despite their bravery, no expedition beyond the solar system has ever returned, and rumors of a threat just beyond the edge spread in hushed whispers and dark corners throughout the United Earth Nations space. To make matters worse, tensions still run high between the Martian colonies and Earth, despite the recent end of the civil war. In response to years of cruel working conditions in the mines of Mars, the Martian workforce, their plight too long ignored, rebelled against their Earthborn masters, but failed. Large groups of bandits and pirates, remnants of the Martian fleet, still roam the space lanes attacking merchants and Earth patrols with impunity. Into all of this, you enter as a newly trained Earth Defence Force pilot, flying the newest of the Illuma Corp Starfighters. Though your role may seem small, with no desire for fame or infamy, forces much larger than yourself may have something else in mind entirely. As you strap yourself in for the final phase of training, you can not help but feel you've been here before...
