Game overview

Anouck Boisrobert & Louis Rigaud worked with children to create 'Méli-Mélo', an interactive book combining papercraft and programming.

Anouck Boisrobert and Louis Rigaud participated in the 2013 Villeurbanne Youth Book Festival by conducting a two-week workshop at the Saint-Exupéry School. They interacted with ten classes ranging from CP to CM2, and two groups of children from the Saint-Jean activity center.

Their project, named "Méli-Mélo," is a clever mix of a book and digital media, crafted as a sequel to Anouck's interactive picture book, "Tip Tap." Based on the concept of "exquisite corpse," they wrote ten stories, and the children created ten additional stories. To provide uniformity to all the drawings, they employed the technique of cut-out paper. They returned with almost 1000 images, but only selected one drawing per phrase. The next step was scanning, cropping, and formatting the images to blend them seamlessly with others. Then comes the programming phase where the game loads images randomly, and layouts them according to the stories. Finally, they added the voice and sound effects recorded from the children to complete the project.
