The mysterious Liangzhu Culture, a highly developed prehistoric civilization, entered its prime about 5000 years ago.
Agriculture & Construction - The inhabitants of Liangzhu possessed advanced agriculture, including irrigation, paddy rice cultivation and aquaculture. Houses were often constructed on stilts, on rivers or shorelines.
Artifacts & Technology - They were able to fire potteries, make lacquers and had advanced jade-making technique and their own totemism. The earliest silk so far was found here.
However, the culture suddenly disappeared 1300 years after its foundation. The reason why it no longer existed still remains a mystery.
Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City are now located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province of China.
