We take a look at the history of popular music from the early 1950s, when Rock ‘n’ Roll first emerged as an identifiable genre, up to the mid-1980s, when the compact disc finally overtook the long-playing vinyl record as the preferred medium of sound reproduction.



The Vinyl Age is a little more light-hearted than earlier editions of Highbrow, but that doesn’t mean it’s easy. You’ll still need a great memory and an encyclopaedic knowledge of the subject.
