Grandfather's Clock Solitaire is played with standard 52-cards deck where all cards are dealt face-up from the start. The aim is to build all cards into a clock shaped foundation by suit so that top cards in the foundation piles show correct numbers on the clock face.
This game is more strategic in terms of game play and solvable. At the start of the game a clock is formed using following cards: 9♣, 10♥, J♠, Q♦, K♣, 2♥, 3♠, 4♦, 5♣, 6♥, 7♠, and 8♦. These piles act as foundations. Remaining cards are dealt face-up into eight columns with each column getting five cards.
The foundations are built up by suit until the card with the correct corresponding number on the clock face is placed. Tableau is built down regardless of suit. Only top card of a tableau pile can be played. Empty spaces in tableau can be filled with any card.
