THE PAIN WAY is an educational game that teaches how nociceptive pain (from external stimuli and tissue damage) occurs in the nervous system (peripheral and central), with emphasis on the central role of the brain.
It is intended for health professionals (doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists, nurses) and patients. Its dynamics is based on the answers (right or wrong) that the player gives when asked about the steps that pain signals travel from the site of injury to reaching the brain to be perceived there. By correcting what happens in each of the 21 stages (distributed in 3 stages), time is gained. If lost, then some time is deducted. In the end, winning the game depends on getting more right than wrong in a period of time initially predetermined by the player himself.
The app offers separate options for people who think they have some knowledge of the nociceptive pain experience, as well as people with no knowledge at all.
At any time, and especially at the end of a session, the player has the chance to access the Path of Pain with all its stages fully completed.
The Path of Pain is an individual educational game; it doesn't allow you to face a virtual competitor.
The Path of Pain ends when the player is disabled for having exceeded the time limit in any phase of the game, or when completing all 3 phases.
